It welcomes the public to make marks, draw and interact with it. The installation ridicules the typical Chinatown arch's scale, tectonic, and ornament. Solà-Morales proposes a reevaluation of conventional urban planning, advocating for a more nuanced understanding of these ambiguous terrains as sources of inspiration rather than problems to be solved. Using orthographic projection, seal-prints are transformed through okoshi-ezu techniques to disrupt stagnant conceptual spaces. The series, akin to okoshi-ezu models, depicts volumes imprinted by the seal, blurring the lines between model and drawing. This process activates interior volumes, with seals transcending mere instruments to become integral identities in the architectural or artistic process. These are ‘almost’ chairs; transfigured from their raw and processed timber beginnings, not quite civilised; not quite furniture. Once hosting conversations and inspiring imagination, the family reunited on the 13th of October 2022 to reminisce and share stories of separate journeys. Film:&nbsp; &nbsp; Chungking Express directed by Wong Kar-Wai. &nbsp; Architects have been making films since its invention. Moving images speak to the architect’s interest in light, movement, temporality, sequence and perception. Rather than produce seamless simulations offered by renderings or orthographic drawings, the project seeks to engage with the shonky. It considers the moments of slippage caused by this translation of architecture into film and back as a productive space of incompleteness, speculation and poetry. The project looks to harness the polemic and performative qualities of film (Chungking Express) thus disrupt the normative processes of the architects’. The project engages critically with the medium of moving images to reimagine the site. The design research initiated through the analysation of a selected film. Filmic and cinematic qualities were extracted and critically evaluated. In this context, the emotive qualities in which the director inserts throughout Chungking Express through cinematography and colour were carefully examined. Thus, prompted the proposition of how (or if) these qualities and techniques can be inserted into an architectural format. If directors can evoke and produce emotive responses through a cinematic lens with the viewers; how can architects do so too but with space? <img width="10667" height="6000" width_o="10667" World Indoor Entertainment The city as a settlement form is the manifestation of human culture, ever-changing and growing, both culturally and physically. The city is being washed by a contemporary tide of immigration bringing new cultural concepts into our urban littoral. How do these layers of cultural history affect our architectural responses to our city/cities? How do we learn to interrogate, to understand our City. Given this disposition towards a more privatised city centre, the Urban Room seeks to create more intimate public proposition in juxtaposition of the surrounding open public space. With emphasis on location, climate, light and tectonic form; the design is ramified into a space that looked inwards, placing greater emphasis on the inhabitation and people, than the collective
