The city as a settlement form is the manifestation of human culture, ever-changing and growing, both culturally and physically. The city is being washed by a contemporary tide of immigration bringing new cultural concepts into our urban littoral. How do these layers of cultural history affect our architectural responses to our city/cities? How do we learn to interrogate, to understand our City.

Given this disposition towards a more privatised city centre, the Urban Room seeks to create more intimate public proposition in juxtaposition of the surrounding open public space. With emphasis on location, climate, light and tectonic form; the design is ramified into a space that looked inwards, placing greater emphasis on the inhabitation and people, than the collective representation.
